Overview
In cases of suspected DSD in particular, a chromosome analysis should be carried out as part of the initial diagnostic work-up. 46,XY differences of sex development (46,XY DSD) refers to a heterogeneous group of congenital conditions in which individuals with a 46,XY karyotype present with incomplete testicular development or androgen action. Presentation ranges from atypical or female-appearing genitalia to isolated undervirilisation or infertility.
