Overview
Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome (BHDS) is an autosomal dominant inherited disorder caused by mutations in the FLCN gene, characterised by cutaneous fibrofolliculomas, pulmonary cysts with an increased risk of spontaneous pneumothorax, and a predisposition to renal tumours. Clinical manifestations typically occur between the second and fourth decades of life, although penetrance and severity may vary.
