Overview
Non-dystrophic myotonia and periodic paralysis are inherited skeletal-muscle channelopathies in which voltage-gated ion-channel dysfunction produces either delayed muscle relaxation after voluntary contraction (myotonia, perceived as stiffness) or transient episodes of flaccid weakness, without the dystrophic muscle wasting of myotonic dystrophy.
