Overview
Choreiform movement disorders are hyperkinetic conditions characterized mainly by chorea, i.e. involuntary, non-rhythmic, and unpredictable movements involving multiple body regions. Chorea can occur during both rest and voluntary activity, is often aggravated by stress, and diminish during sleep. Depending on the underlying etiology, additional movement abnormalities, such as e.g. dystonia can occur.
