Overview
CADASIL and CARASIL are inherited cerebral small-vessel arteriopathies that cause recurrent ischaemic strokes, cognitive decline and migraine in young to middle adulthood. Both progress to vascular dementia and significant disability, with classic CARASIL also presenting early gait disturbance, spondylosis and alopecia.
