Hereditary fructose intolerance
Synonyms: Aldolase B deficiency
Overview
This panel assesses two inherited disorders of fructose handling and gluconeogenesis. Hereditary fructose intolerance results from aldolase B deficiency, producing fructose-triggered hypoglycaemia and hepatic injury; fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase deficiency impairs gluconeogenesis, producing fasting lactic acidosis and ketotic hypoglycaemia.
