Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH; adrenogenital syndrome) is caused by inherited enzyme deficiencies in adrenal cortisol biosynthesis, leading to glucocorticoid (and often mineralocorticoid) deficiency together with adrenal androgen excess.
