Achondroplasia
Synonyms: ACH
Overview
Achondroplasia is the most common skeletal dysplasia causing disproportionate short stature, with rhizomelic limb shortening, macrocephaly, frontal bossing and midface retrusion. It is caused by recurrent gain-of-function variants in FGFR3 and is recognisable at birth, although features may already be detected prenatally on ultrasound.
