Medicover Genetics will launch , a plasma-based test for longitudinal minimal residual disease monitoring in patients with unresectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), at in Madrid. At ESMO, Medicover Genetics will also present its broader precision oncology portfolio, spanning hereditary cancer testing, tumour molecular profiling, liquid biopsy for therapy selection, and longitudinal disease monitoring. OncoSentia™ MRD will be offered as a centralized laboratory service through Medicover Genetics’ CAP-accredited, CLIA-certified laboratories, serving healthcare providers across European markets.

The test’s clinical focus is on patients with unresectable Stage II or III NSCLC following definitive treatment, including during consolidation therapy and post-treatment surveillance. Supporting clinical validation evidence is derived from the DART clinical trial.

Tumour agnostic, plasma-informed

OncoSentia™ MRD uses a tumour-agnostic, plasma-informed workflow to analyse circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) without requiring prior tumour-tissue profiling. Molecular signals identified in plasma inform patient -specific ctDNA detection.

Clinical evidence from DART

Supporting evidence comes from the prospective, multicentre DART study of patients with unresectable stage III NSCLC treated with chemoradiotherapy followed by durvalumab. The published analysis included 659 plasma samples from 84 patients, collected across multiple treatment and follow-up time points.

ctDNA detected during consolidation treatment and surveillance was significantly associated with poorer progression-free survival. In a multivariable, time-dependent analysis of post-chemoradiotherapy samples, detectable ctDNA was associated with a nearly threefold higher risk of progression (HR 2.95; 95% CI 1.69–5.15). When evaluating specific clinically relevant timepoints, ctDNA positivity midway through consolidation was associated with 2.45-fold higher risk for progression (HR 2.45; 95% CI 1.18-5.11) while an even greater risk is shown for patients who are tested positive 3 months post-consolidation (HR 5.37; 95%CI 1.93-14.93).

Among patients who progressed and had detectable ctDNA, ctDNA detection preceded radiological or clinical progression by a median of 7.4 months. Together, these findings support the prognostic relevance of longitudinal ctDNA monitoring across clinically relevant time points and its potential to provide additional molecular insights alongside established clinical and imaging surveillance.

Additional findings from the DART study will be presented by investigators from Oslo University Hospital at ESMO 2026 in Madrid.

“Our focus is on translating molecular innovation into solutions that can be integrated into clinical practice and support clinicians across the patient pathway,” said Dr Mike Whalley, Global Managing Director at Medicover Genetics. “OncoSentia™ MRD expands our precision oncology capabilities into longitudinal disease monitoring, with unresectable NSCLC as our initial clinical focus. We plan to continue evaluating the approach across additional cancer indications as part of our ongoing oncology R&D program.”

About Medicover Genetics OncoSentia™ MRD

OncoSentia™ MRD is a tumour-agnostic, plasma-informed liquid biopsy assay developed to detect and longitudinally monitor circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) in patients with stage III unresectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Without requiring prior tumour tissue sequencing, the assay enables longitudinal molecular assessment during and after treatment, complementing established clinical and radiological monitoring.

In the multicentre Phase II DART study of patients with unresectable stage III NSCLC treated with chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by durvalumab, longitudinal ctDNA monitoring was performed. Detectable ctDNA during and after consolidative durvalumab following CRT was strongly associated with inferior progression-free survival (PFS) and can predict disease progression months before radiological evidence.  These findings support the potential value of longitudinal ctDNA assessment as a complementary approach to disease monitoring.
